KSENIA: I was six when my family left Moscow, but we also lived in Hungary for a few years prior to coming to Canada.
SMN: Was it hard adjusting to life in Canada? Did you have to learn English while you were here?
KSENIA: Because I was so young, I found the transition very easy. I already knew two languages, Russian and Hungarian, so learning a third was a breeze. I think my parents had a much harder time than I did. As a kid you don’t really think about it, you just do it, you know?
SMN: What was high-school like for you? I bet you were the prom queen…
KSENIA: Prom Queen, please, I was the skinny, awkward little geek with a terrible fashion sense who befriended all the misfits. I loved my teachers and my classes, but high school kids can be pretty cruel; I was bullied like you wouldn’t believe. But my experiences made me who I am today, so I’ve come to appreciate those difficult years.
SMN: We heard you might be leaving us….Why Miami? 🙁
KSENIA: Yes, the rumours are true, and believe me when I say I will be sad to leave BC, because it is one of my favorite places on earth. But the answer is simple – the love of my life lives in Miami, and I must follow my heart.
SMN: Well no offense, but we hope it doesn’t happen…how are we going to shoot with you again if you move so far away….?
KSENIA: Well, I guess you’re just going to have to take a little vacation one of these days, and come visit me down to sunny SoFlo! I know, white sand beaches, girls in bikinis, and margaritas … what a drag 😉
